NNAS Straight to Silver
Navigation Skills course
Buckden, Wharfedale, March 2016
3 day's of hill-walking & learning new outdoor skills. Friday was spent learning the key skills (map skills, compass work, kit, clothing, route planning, weather etc) on a low level walk around Upper Wharfedale. On Saturday we headed up onto the hills to implement these skills in the uplands, including bearings, contour interpretation and also poor visibility (which we got, with mist and then darkness). Sunday was the consolidation day on the fells above Cray and Stake Moss, with much better conditions (it was a spring-like day!).
