Lakeland Walking Weekender
10 - 12 October, 2014
Coniston, Lake District

Based from the fantastic Black Bull Hotel, 15 of us (plus myself and Richard) spent a wonderful weekend on the Lakeland fells. We met on friday evening at the Black Bull for a get-together and then on Saturday one group headed up for a mountain day onto Swirl How and the Old Man of Coniston, whilst the other group headed up to Boulder Valley then down to Walna Scar Road and the shores of Coniston Water for a hill and valley day.

Saturday night was the pub quiz at the Black Bull then on Sunday we all walked together over Hole Rake to Tilberthwaite and Cathedral Quarry, finishing back at Coniston for ice creams at 4pm.

Snowdonia Walking Weekender
12th - 14th September 2014
Capel Curig, Snowdonia

Just returned from Snowdonia Walking Weekender.

Based from the excellent Bryn Tyrch Inn at Capel Curig, we went up Snowdon on Saturday via the South Ridge and Watkin path, then on Sunday a more leisurely stroll to Swallow Falls.

My memories… unusual ‘art’, narrow ridges and steep scree, a motorway service station on top of a mountain, the very smelly goat, pub quiz night, singing Elvis songs at midnight, the medicinal uses of heather, great conversations and company.
