Wild Camping weekend
14th & 15th June 2014
Above Borrowdale, Lake District

A weekend of warm, still weather, with a brief but heavy shower on Saturday evening. Misty on Sunday as we headed across Allen Crags, but cleared as we dropped into Langstrath Valley.

Wild Camping: In England and Wales, all land is privately owned and landowner permission is required to camp on private land. Wild camping is permitted on certain areas of common land on Dartmoor, and it is also permitted in Scotland as long as you follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. In reality, wild camping high amongst the mountains is a tolerated tradition as long as it is undertaken responsibly. So, obtain permission if possible; camp high amongst the mountains away from paths and popular areas; arrive late, leave early; leave no trace; no fires; take ALL rubbish out with you; small group sizes; respect and protect the environment.

Mountain Training 'Mountain Skills' course

10th & 11th May 2014

Great Langdale

Our first Mountain Training 'Mountain Skills' course of 2014 was based at the Old Dungeon Ghyll in Great Langdale. 

Saturday route: Langdale Pikes and Sergeant Man; Sunday route: Pike of Blisco. We had every type of weather thrown at us - 50m visibility across the Langdale Pikes, strong winds, heavy rain and sunshine! Great for practicing nav skills! Sunday route: ODG, Oxendale, Red Tarn, Pike of Blisco, Wrynose Fell.
