NNAS Silver navigator award
Ravenstonedale, Howgill Fells
15th & 16th November 2014

NNAS Silver navigation skills course, based at Ravenstonedale.

Saturday, we headed up onto Green Bell, learning skills along the way (bearings, pacing, contours, strategies, timings etc) and arrived at the summit of Green Bell at 6pm just as it went completely dark. After a bite to eat in the group shelter, we then navigated off the summit in the dark, reaching the Black Swan at 8pm, where we sat down for a fantastic meal.

On Sunday, they put their new skills into practice across Crosby Garrett Fell, finding Iron Age settlements, ponds, cairns and paths, with an amazing sunset to cap a great weekend.

Another 6 proud NNAS Silver award holders...
